It takes 2 when cold.
The last few nights at my house its been dipping into the 40's and supposed to almost be down into the 30's tonight. I'm using 10w30 oil, and i know it should be at least good for operating temps down into the single digits. when i go to start it, it turns over but doesn't catch and sounds like its just having a hard time starting. Once i stop and let it rest for 5 seconds i start it again and it starts up fine. Any idea of why the first time cranking it, it wont start. May it just be the fact that its a 19 year old car and its cold out? Any suggestions or ideas would be great. I'm sure its going to feel a lot colder temps, so i want to make sure i can try and avoid this problem when its colder.
How old is your battery? the cold temperature may be sucking it's life....
Is there a cold start sensor?
for the 240 this is what is the diagnosis:
Engine Hard to Start when Cold:
1) BAttery discharged or low
2) Fuel system malfunctioning............no kidding
3) Injector(s) leaking
4) Distributor rotor carbon tracked........replace the dam thing I guess is what they mean.

The battery is new as of 2 months ago. Ive been guessing from a few other symptoms that the fuel pressure or system may be off. This morning it was in the 40's and it started right up? hm. Its a mystery to me.
That's funny, mine takes 2 when HOT. After I've driven it, parked, and then attempt to start it again after about 10-15 minutes, it turns over but won't fire up. Then the second attempt always works right away.
