Default Throttle Control Rod Separation - How?

Ho Volvo Gurus:

I have a Throttle Switch that I am replacing on my 1992 VOLVO DL-240. It has the LH-2.4 Fuel Injection.

How do you separate the throttle control rod from the lever arm attached to the throttle plate. Its a ball and socket arrangement so it must be a friction fi. The design is elegant, so I don't want to break anything or I am screwed if I do. Please tell me how you separate the ball from the fitting on the throttle plate lever.

In the past there was a "click" sound. Now nothing. Its very difficult to attach electrical leads to the throttles body for continuity measurements so I guess I will remove the throttle body and fabricate terminals so i can connect my ohm meter leads to the TS. It seems like a lot of work but the Bentley manual clarifies what I don't know.

Any thoughts to make the adjustments easier for the TS after its attached and the throttle body is back on the intake manifold?

Thank you so much. Also, no codes at the ODR to suggest that the TS is faulty. Car starts and runs like a top. Idle is nice, starts a little high in RPM and slows to a lower speed. It never stalls either or dies. Car only has 138k.

Thx again, love the DL-240s.

OK - WHY? Having worked on theses cars for over 40 years - WHY? Are you having idling or running problems? Or "it does not click so I'm replacing it"

The later throttle switches do not click - so are you sure you have come to the right solution?
