tranny whines & slips when cold
Hi everyone,
Need some advice, 89 240 GL, when i bought it the previous owners had neglected it and failed to realize the car takes fluids. I had to completely fill the transmission with Dexron III. Since then it has whined on and off at startup and this morning believe it or not it was actually cold in arizona and the tran was slipping some and not shifting properly....i plan on changing the filter soon could this have anything to do with it i.e. being so clogged it can't pass fluid thru till its cold? or is my torque converter going? any help would be appreciated. It still drives good just don't want to change the tranny if i don't have to right now.

RE: tranny whines & slips when cold
Question,
Would anyone try flushing the tranny first or replacing it. I've located a new transmission but wondering if possibly this one is just gunked up.
Don't want to spend money on the tranny if it's good, and don't want to waste money on flushing it if that's not the fix either.
It still engages but barely, the fluid is burnt and it's less than a month old. Won't do over 40 and when it is it's at 4k rpm
thanks for opinions
