Default Transmission shift solved

89 240 automatic, was having trouble shifting into high gear. problem was-The kick down cable was caught around something on that drum that the throttle cable goes around. straightened it out, everything OK. 5 second fix. Hooray!

Yes, I do and here's the icing on the cake- When the problem first surfaced, I called the local saturday morning car care show on the radio. as soon as they heard '89 and 200k, their responce was "what you need is a new transmission. See, the seals are worn and that is why it wont shift into high. It will be about 1500. Why we always say not to buy a 1200 $ car......" I plan to call them this Saturday, wish me good luck... Dave

The first thing I would have said was to check the adjustment on the cable.
