Default Trouble starting 85 244DL

Hello fellow members.

I have an 85 volvo 244DL that has been acting up lately. Just replaced that battery today and can't get the car to start. The starter works fine also. Went out this morning to start it up and it ran poorly for about 30 seconds before dying.

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

Can you tell us anything else by what you mean by 'acting up?' Does the starter run but the engine does not light? It might be the hall effect sensor going bad. How many miles are on the car? Did it run fine before? Don't be afraid to bore us with the details.

Starter runs but motor won't actually start. I think it's a distributor cap and rotor problem. pulled the plug wires off a couple of cylinders and i saw no spark coming from the wires. Looked at the distributor cap and rotor and it looked worn pretty badly. The car has 180,000 miles on it also. It was running decent before i'd say but a misfire here and there would occur until the car got to normal operating temp. So Monday after noon i'm picking up the new distributor cap and rotor to see if that solves my problem.
