Default Troubleshooting Sunroof?

So the sunroof in my 940 wagon doesn't work...as far as I know. But it hasn't worked since I got it and it would be a simple fix or a monumental issue. When I hit the button to retract it nothing happens. I'd love to get this working again, but I really have no idea where to start aside from checking all the fuses, which i've already done.

Any thoughts?

It is probably the motor. If you remove the plastic cover that covers the motor, you will see the power connector that connects to the motor. Remove this and see if there is power there by placing the red lead to one of the power spades and the other black lead to the motor. If there is power, it is the motor. If not, it is the rocker switch.

YOu can also remove the switch, open it, and try cleaning it.
Do you hear anything? or is it completely silent? if you hear the motor (assuming you don't), then the roof needs will need an alignment.

It's completely silent, as though the switch isn't hooked up to anything at all. Where is the motor located and what's the best way to get to it? My chilton's isn't at all helpful sometimes.

I would clean the switch first. That is the main thing I see wrong with the roofs is the switch is bad.

Yeah, try with the switch first... But the motor is hidden by the plastic cover fcpgroton was describing. it is held by two screws infront of the rear view mirror.

ok cool, that's what I was getting at, if it was right in front or if it was somewhere towards the back.

I'll try my hand at cleaning the switch and see what happens.

Mine did that, I just got it. All I did was take the battery out of my key fob, put same battery back in, lock and unlock doors with fob, and the sunroof works perfectly!

In case anyone looks at this soon, I'm having similar sunroof issues on my 940. My sunroof will open just fine, but trying to use the switch to close it yields no motion, no noise, nothing. Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks.

Change the switch, lube the tracks.
