Default Trying to purchase a '92 Volvo 740 Wagon

I'm currently trying to purchase a Volvo 740, and the guy that's selling it says it has what he thinks is lifter noise. Should I be concerned about that? And what other bugs should I worry about with one of these?

Make sure it's not a more serious noise like rod knock or piston slap... "Lifter" noise is fixed by valve adjustment in a b230.

How would I be able to identify that? Just have a mechanic with me when I go look at it?

Well, yes, a mechanic that knows his stuff, preferably a Volvo guy...
