turbo question
Hello. I have a 94 Volvo 940 Turbo with a 2.3 engine. It is blowing a lot of smoke at stops. The dealer replaced the oxygen sensor (and some other parts to the tune of $1200.00) and it is still smoking. They said the turbo is probably going bad which would be another $1200-$1300.00. I am trying to find out which stlye/brand of turbo my car has but i couldn't find any name on the housing - just the number 3E3. How do I determine which turbo it has? I would like to replace it myself with a used or rebuilt unit. Thanks for any help.
check ebay, lots of 240 turbo's on sale, its a t3 type turbo , their should be a/r numbers on turbine and compressor side (.48?) when looking for on ebay just try to find one that look similar, then email auctioner and ask what the a/r's are and see if they are same.

i got a 940 turbo, lemme guess, your engine\turbo is well past 100,000 miles?
the seals in the turbo are leaking, i got the same problem, all you can can do is drain out the turbo, cuz it spools and boosts fine, and it is fine, the only problem is that you now have oil in your intake lines fouling the maf and 02.
my 940 is 91 but i don't think there is much of a difference so you probably have a mitsubishi to4od / h
