Vacuum Hose Routing?
I am working on a NA '88 245. I just changed the rack and pulled the intake to air filter tube. There are 2 openings on it for a 1/2" or so hose. It looks like the 1 on the bottom goes to a solenoid looking thing, on the block below the intake.
I think that the other goes to PCV opening under the fuel rail, towards the back of the motor. It has positive pressure and leaks. That correct?
I have heard it suggested that it goes to the Idle Air Control....Is that the think that has a black adjusting screw on it, under the Throttle Body? I can not find where it is sucking air.
The hose has a T on it, w/a T-fitting w/an 1/8" vacuum hose going to it. My Vacuum diagram tends to indicate that it goes to the back side of the intake, the plug closes to the firewall. That plug has a vacuum hose w/a braided outer-shell. But, it doesn't seem to be long enough to go there.
The other plug, on the back side of the intake...it is supposed to connect to the Ignition Control Box (ICB) on the pass. fender, near the radiator. It has long ago deteriorated to nothing and only has about 2" of rubber hose on it and sucks air. The ICB is supposed to be hooked to that spot, w/a white hose. As near as I can tell, there is only one hookup on the ICB and it has a white hard plastic hose. That hose goes down near the alternator, and joins the alternator wires and goes under the front of the motor. It may go to the Vacuum Canister on the drivers side, at the front corner of the engine bay. There is a hard white plastic hose going there, but it is under the AC compressor and hard to track. Sooooo, Is the ICB supposed to have more than one hose going to it? If not, where should the white hose go? Should it have a T?

I thought that I'd replied to this...I guess not. I have the IAC hose hooked up correctly. It it hooked to the "solenoid looking thing on the block." But, the big black intake hose needs to be turned.

The Ignition box...should it have a Tee on it near the box? Mine does not. The vacuum line going to it, goes under the alternator over to the carbon canister. The vacuum line diagram shows their being a line going to it...but there is no where to hook it up, unless I add a Tee.

the vacuum line for the chrysler ignition controller on a 240 can be hooked up to any of the skinny vacuum ports on the intake manifold vacuum tree as long it is NOT behind a one-way valve. if it takes a T to do this, so be it. it works just like the old vacuum advance on a classic distributor.
Well, I just learned the answer to my question. I was putting new AC mount bushing on and I took off the mount to do it. There is wiring that goes behind the mount.
I learned that the white plastic line goes from the ignition box, over the alternator, under the crank pulley, behind the AC mount, and then straight up, on the center of the left side of the motor. It comes out, in the middle of the intake, between the motor and the intake. There is about 4" of rubber hose that hooks on to the TB, and the plastic line. My rubber vacuum hose has disintegrated to a nub.
The white plastic line was hiding.
