Default Valve Ticking on Acceleration.....

Hey All,

I have noticed that there is a sharp tick upon first accelerating (around 1500 rpm) that seems to quiet beyond that. Anyone have any ideas as to what that may be. How often do these motors need actual adjustment on the valves. Maybe a sticky lifter.....

Compression 200/200/190/190

Thanks for any and all help!

G

Valve clearance should be checked every 30k miles.

Valve adjustment is every 30k.
How many miles?
The rubber silencers on the top of the valves between the valve stem and the lifter might have fallen apart.

Currently 130,000

Runs real good but not sure the previous owner did oil changes as they should have. Changed my oil about 2000 miles ago and it is already filthy. Should I consider a engine flush of some kind. I am considering running synthetic oil as I do in my other car, but short term oil changes with synthetic can get expensive.
