Volvo 240 cruise control does not hold speed 89 240dl wagon
Hey all, it's been a few years since I've been around, but just recently I was in a junk yard and found a 240GL with an intact cruise system. I made notes and used the hose routing info to fix mine. Apparently someone did do a writeup in 2018 about this, but I last checked in maybe 2015 and am a bit out of touch.
Anyways, the system works and takes control of the pedal. I also have the instructions and followed them. The issue is it will not stick to the speed I set it. It just goes faster and faster.
For example I took it on a stretch of road with a 55 MPH limit, and set the cruise to 30 since no one was around. In about a mile it had reached 55 and I shut it off. On the interstate I set it around 50 MPH, and it will go past 70 before I stop it. What is the deal here?
Also when pulling a tach and clock from a yard car (forgot the hole plug so will have to go back, my bad) I noticed a metal bar running from the cruise control board to a hole on the rear of the cluster. Should have taken a picture of this, but my car does not have this bar.
Any help would be great. This isn't a pressing matter but it is odd enough that it interests me. If the cruise didn't work at all that's fine, but I can't find anything online with this issue.
