Volvo 240DL - Strange Electric Problem
After parking for only 2-3 minutes, I turned the ignition to no start. The dash lights came up and I could hear the starter click, but no turn. I found no error codes, disconnected and reconnected the negative battery lead, and cranked a couple more times. Out of frustration, I held the key for a moment and the car started right up.
After getting home, I tried starting again to no avail. The dash lights still come on, but the windows don't roll up.
It's especially hot out today, making me think a bad relay - but why wouldn't the windows roll up?

I had the same thing happen to me....the wires to the starter solenoid were not making good contact, lots of oil....I ended up re-doing the entire engine bay wire harness....and cleaned the solenoid contacts...in my case the starter cranked nicely and it's been a month with no problems......I got a crack in the cylinder head but that's another story.
