Are Volvo 240s supposed to ride rough?
On my 1989 Volvo 240 DL Sedan, the suspension makes it a rough ride. When I go over pot holes, the pot holes sound alot louder than they are and really take a strong effect on the car. It reminds me of a school going over potholes. I replaced the rear shocks with new Saches brand(gas I believe). I did a push test on the front shocks and it did not bounce so I assume the front ones are still good. Am I missing anything to make this ride smoother, or is this a trait of the 240's?

rough ride
Dman- Mine is an 89 240 also- I just figured the rough ride was cause the thing is 20 years old. I replaced both front tie rod ends and the steering is much better. There are all knida bushings front and rear that are probably shot. Sort of depends how deep you want to get into it I guess. At one point I was gonna replace all that stuff, then I just decided to drive it. Dave

i had the tie rods replace on mine also.
rough.... rough like when i was a kid i rode the school bus and back then the rear shocks of the school bus were super stiff. so every bump or pot hole would make this big crash noise like with heavy metal moving around(not the music....actual metal that is heavy shifting, banging, and hitting itself).
