Volvo 245 jerk when shifting to drive
I noticed after a long-ish 45min freeway drive when I shifted gears (have an automatic) from reverse to drive the car would jerk. this doesn't happen when first out of the garage. i did a flush ipd-style 6 months ago and installed a magnefine trans. filter. any ideas what could be wrong?
Im not sure if mine is experiencing the same thing or not but mine shifts really hard into third. it jerks the whole car a bit. I do know one thing it is not recommended to do flushes or any kind of service involved cleaning out a higher mileage automatic transmission. I have heard many horror stories about people flushing out higher mileage trannys and then they fall apart. Now I am not saying yours is doing this I am just saying be aware of this scenario.
well the tranny fluid was dark when i flushed it. i don't think it was ever flushed before even though it was taken to a dealer for regular maintenance till not too long ago. i also put a little sea foam in there before i flushed it.
Could it just be a change in idle speed from a cold to a warm engine? What I'm getting at is, if you've driven the car some distance the vehicle is warm. And a warm car may idle at a different speed than when it cold (mine does). And a higher idle speed would cause a more "forceful" engaging of drive or reverse, evidenced by a "clunk".
