Volvo 740 - Kickdown cable replacement
I could not find any mention of how to replace this cable in the manual I have. Basically, my only trouble is figuring out if I have to drop the tranny pan to remove the old cable and install the new one.
Would a 1986 740 non turbo sedan kickdown cable fit on my 91 740 turbo wagon?

For anyone who might come across this thread looking to gain insight into replacing the cable, I will leave you with this thread I found late last. Very informative, should answer any and all questions you might have.
Removing the cable under the hood is as straightforward as it gets, but doing so at the transmission is likely to be a bit problematic. This is however no reason to be discouraged from doing the repair yourself, it just makes having the right tools for the job very important and also being able to use your head a little bit to get the parts in the right position to facilitate removal of the cable.
Here is the link:
Transmission. Automatic AW70 and ZF

Do not ever order anything from Carparts.com unless you are looking for a part that will not fit your car.
I received the kickdown cable today and to my disgust it does not fit. The little medal ball piece that goes into the pulley inside the transmission is slightly thicker, wider than the original so it will not even fit into the little hole. Customer service was terrible to begin with so this does not really surprise me.
I am going to delicately attempt to grind away a bit of the end evenly in the hope that i can reduce the thickness to where it will fit onto the pulley.
