I live in Finland. I have 1993 940 turbo volvo originally brought from America. Tried to cold start today, battery empty.. many hours later I tried to start again with help of another car. It took time to load the battery so my car would start. After that car started and I noticed this light came on. First time this light appears on and does not go out even if the car is off.. :,) no idea wa happens to mi car.. any help is wanted

 

Take the under dash panel off, find and remove the aftermarket stuff (maybe an alarm)

 

Look for a small toggle switch or momentary push button near the hood release. That should disarm the installed security system.
Sometimes you have to toggle the switch back and forth while the key is in position 1
Other times push the button while the key is in position 1
I just removed an aftermarket system from my 940, it's not hard. You must reconnect the wire that lead to the starter circuit. You'll know it's the right one because it will have an in-line relay.
Everything else can (most often) be cut out and abandoned.

 

You may just pop that cap with the light off, take out the red bulb. But eventually you may get a "no start" as part of this security system someone installed after market, who knows what features it has... You may be shocked at the amount of wires, relays, fuses and modules there maybe under the dash, again, depending on what features there were on the system.
