Default Volvo 940 Turbo wont run please help!

I have a 1992 volvo 940 turbo and it stil wont run after replacing a couple of parts. I have put in new water pump, thermostat, have done the tune up ( spark plugs, oil, air filter, etc). Recently Ive put in a new fuel pump ( internal). It turned on i drove the volvo arounf the neighborhood with no problems. but then 'I tried to turn it on again but it would turn on. Im thinking its the turbo but my dad says its the external fuel pump and filter. but ive replced these parts about a year ago. any ideas?

a 940 turbo will run just fine with a totally messed up turbo until you try and get some boost, then it won't deliver any oomph. but it will run.

generally, its best to look at the last thing you worked on before it stopped running.

no start conditions are generally either no fuel, or no spark. can you smell gas fumes around the tailpipe after cranking it over for 5 seconds a couple times in a row? or, if you pull a sparkplug is it wet or dry?

I'm guessing its a fuel pressure issue since the fuel pump was the last thing you fixed (was this the in-tank pump or the main pump that's under the car?).

Any of those parts you replaced might have been wrong, defective, or improperly installed. If a car runs well, and one begins to fiddle with things, then one should be careful to check his work and really make sure that all is well along the way. The more parts are being replaced, the more chances that something may go wrong...

Doubtful that it's the turbo... Recheck your work!

@pierce: I replaced the intake pump in the gas tank. this is the most recent work ive done to it. so you think its the main pump under the car? what about the filter next to it?
@lev: ill be sure to recheck my work thank you. Im glad both of you agree its not the turbo or that would be costly to replace

just for laughs, try jumpering from the fuse 1 to fuse 11 (yes, you'll need to figure out how to get these jumpers in there with the fuse at the same time, maybe hack the top off a couple spare fuses and use them).... this will bypass the fuel pump relay, and force the fuel pumps both to come on. install this jumper, and try and start the car. remove the jumper as soon as you're done testing as you don't want to leave the fuel pumps running !

oh, instead of jumpering those fuses, you can jumper from the center pin of a cigarette lighter plug to pin 7 of the fuelpump/injection relay, which is relay "E". does the same thing. you'll again need to get this jumper wire into the relay socket and still plug the relay in behind it.
