Default Volvo 940 Wagon, Please help?!

Hi kidz,

I have a 94 Volvo Wagon turbo. This just started .....when I hit the brakes hard, the gear shift itself moves up and down noticibly, like it's about to slip out of gear. It's running fine. 136+ miles, and I just had a bit of work done to it. (tune up, spark plugs, belts, oil change, etc) I'm sure it's not the transmission. Something with the gears? Also, the damn get service light just came on tonight! What does that *really* mean?

any help would be appreciated. Please send your response to My regular email addy at whipgirl@peoplepc.com, if at all possible.

Thank you!

Vendela

The Service light is a reminder light for the oil change.

Most of the time warped rear rotors will cause the shifter to move while braking.

thanks tech!

I just had the oil changed a few weeks ago. The light doesn't seem to stay on very long at all. By the time i get out of my driveway it goes off. Maybe a light glitch? I'll check the oil tomarrow but it should be fine.

So the roters eh? What kind of price am I looking at to fix ya think? and how long do I have to get it to the shop?

Thanks a bunch! You're a doll!

Look in the speedo cluster on the left side for a rubber plug.If you have it remove the plug and turn the key on.Then use a screw driver or something small and push the button in to reset the light.

It will cost somewhere around like $350.00 or so for new rotors and pads.

But if you can live with the vibration I would wait till the pads that are on there wear out.
This way it will buy you some time.It really doesn't affect braking that much and is still safe to drive but just annoying.
