Default What type/grade oil are you using?

Just trying to get an idea of what everyone is running for oil and why, especially in the case that your not using the recommended wieght. I've got what sounds like a couple of really chattery lifters and was recommended that I try 15w-50 to alleviate the noise. Any advice will help even if your not using 15w50 so that others can get and idea as well.

Thanks

I have been using High Mileage Valvoline 10W30. This last time I used Castrol High Mileage 10W30 because it was on sale cheaper than the Valvoline. Previously I used nothing but Castrol. Since I started using the High Mileage, I have not noticed the little drips under the car as much.

Have your oil pressure checked and make sure the oil pan o-rings are not going bad. Most people move the synthetic oil and it will give you some more time and quiet it down some.

Thanks to everyone so far. I ordered the sealant and oil pump rings today so I will take care of that asap. I talked to another mechanic today and he said he thought there might be a piece of dirt or something causing the hydraulic lifter to stick for a bit and then working. He also thought I should try thicker oil to help alleviate.

Let us know how you make out. Most of the time it is the oil pan o-rings not the oil pump o-rings.
