I just talked to my mechanic and asked him about my new Garrett turbo I got for my 1990 740 Turbo. I was looking at it before I installed it, and noticed some water hoses in the engine bay that were capped off. 1 comes off the Water pump, 1 goes into the radiator.

He said that there was a recall in 1990 with the mitsu water cooled turbos. They were brought in and replaced with garrett non water cooled versions.

He said not to worry, leave em capped off, and the the water cooled turbos dont last any longer anyways.

So im looking at the new turbo, and I notice 2 threaded holes in the center section of the turbo, Im assuming that this new turbo is water cooled? Is it worth hooking the water cooled part back up??? Or should I just let it be?

Are you sure they aren't for the oil?

If they are for coolant I would hook them up.

I am not aware of a recall on the turbo's.. I could be wrong. On the top of the page you should see a link for recalls check there about it.
