what to expect from cam swap
Greetings all,
I just swapped out the stock M cam for a K cam in my B230F. Everything went back together nice, double checked the timing belt marks. When i started it up, the ignition timing was off by at least 20-30 degrees. After I set the ignition timing, it is idling nicely, maybe a little fast. First drive, it diesels just off idle, like it is knocking for a second, then goes fine. So, question is: does the fuel injection (LH2.1) need to re-learn the new cam? Anything else that could cause this? I bought the car recently and someone else had replaced the belt before I got it. Could they have had it a tooth off and changed the ignition timing? It was kind of doggy before.

LH2.1 has no learning at all.
when you reinstalled the timing belt, did you check all three sprockets to ensure they were aligned correctly? the distributor comes off the intermediate shaft on a 240, so if thats off a tooth, that would throw the ignition timing off.
