Working on my 1990 wagon and noticed this small wiring harness was missing a relay...found a picture online and was curious to know what is the function of this relay....
The relay in the picture is sliver and round ....

the symbol on the side looks like a delay/timer relay.

the only small round relay i see on a 92 240 under the dash is the dome light delay relay, that leaves the dome light on for several seconds after you close the drivers door. this is PN 1235996
according to the wiring diagram, its 4 pins, and has black pin 30, bl;ue-black pin 87, white-black pin 85, and green pin 86. With that relay missing, your dome light will not come on with stay on for however many seconds after the drivers door is closed (on a 240 its only triggered by the driver door, on most other cars its triggered by any door)
