Help identifying relay
Hello all!
I just picked up a 240 for $1k in CA. Really like it so far.
One thing that I have to fix is the wiring to this relay in the engine bay.
I don't have a Volvo manual yet (recommendations welcome!).
What's it for?

what year 240 is this? I can see it has LH fuel injection so its like an 82+, but I can't tell offhand if thats LH II, 2.2, or 2.4 (introduced in 1989)
that doesn't look like a relay, but the picture isn't clear enough to really say what it is.
that wire looks like its suffering from biodegradable harness syndrome... early 80s to mid year 1987, all Volvos had bad biodegradable wiring. if its cracked there, its likely bad other places where you can't see it
re: book, for 240's, the Bentley book is about the only good one.

You're right, I actually don't know that it's a relay. I'll cut the harness covering a bit to see how far back the damage goes and will keep an eye out for that.
It's a 1986.
Thanks, I'll look for the Bentley book.
