Default What were the "Bad" Wiring years for redblocks?

I've seen a few different claims on what are/are not the good/bad years for insulation rotting/mice food, etc... and I've seen MODERN issues with car manufacturers using soy based insulation, but for the 80's redblock cars-I'm trying to find out when the older bad wiring years were... but once again, I've searched the forums, and resources, but I can't find a definitive "FOR SURE" years.

I'm looking at an '88 T/I 740...
Thanks Gentlemen.

All of the years are bad for wiring. Volvo is notorious for bad electrical systems. They used two different metals on the electromotive scale for every connections. Every connection corrodes and taps out eventually. As far as Bosch electrical components and wiring, you cannot ask for a more defective arrangement.

Bosch did the wiring for Messerschmidt and Heinkel aircraft for the Germans in WWII. The finest aircraft in the history of the world except for the electrical components. Bosch's work in WWII is probably why the Luftwaffe was totally decimated by the allies. Seriously.

Don't pay any attention to sleipnir. Just throwing a tantrum.

The years with biodegradable wiring lasted from 84 through early/mid 87.

so i guess the Spitfire and the P-51 Mustang had nothing to do with the Luftwaffe's demise LOL ... it must have been bad German wiring all along

uhhhhh......
Even my Regina 940s have been more reliable than any other car I've owned. And I hate those things.

Yeah,...the tailgate lights go out, but sooner or later you hit another bump and they come back on again...

Thank you Gentlemen...
My Ex's B.F.F. had this thing with VWs... now those things... Worse than whiteblock P2s.

That's what I tell my wife... all the time.

IMHO the problem with the electronics in a 2 series starts at the fuse box with those damn ceramic fuses. Buy an '89 or later 7/9 and your good to go.

re: the 240 ceramic fuses, clean the conntacts, and replace ALL the fuses with Flosser copper/brass fuses and you'll have no more fuse problems.

bought some Flosser fuses... they did indeed fix my one issue with one of the fuel system fuses. Used to be that HOW the fuse sat in the fuse box mattered... that's no longer the case.
