Default What years would you recommend

Between the '86-'93 240's are there any particular years you would recommend or advise to avoid? If so why ? Thanks.

Starting with 1989 you have the lh 2.4 system that has basic diagnostic functions. 91-92 was the improved AC system with R134a being standard in 1993. SRS and ABS came with the later years also.

I would just get the lastest model and lowest mileage you can.

Get a '75! Only year it came with the B20, the most awesome engine produced by Volvo and its extreme durability pushes the longevity of the '75 into periods of time that can only be described in geological epochs. Plus flat hoods look cool.

Admittedly I've never actually seen another one. Occasionally I see another flat-hood dual-seven-inch-sealed-beam 240, but then I see the "2.1" under the Volvo logo which denotes that it is a '76.

Priority #1 is minimal rust. #2 lowest mileage. #3 latest year. Show me a '93 SoCal car, with no rust, 50k mi, always garaged, and my checkbook is ready.

Yeah thats what I recommended up top. I think thats i deal for someone who is getting started and not an enthusiast per say. For me there is only 3 240's ever made. The 78 242 GT, the 83 242 Group A, and the 85 245 TI. All the rest are filler.
