Hi,
I woud like to disagree with pierce. You can sucessfully crimp wires, when using unshielded butt connectors and weatherproof heat shrink on them.
Or using shielded and liquid tape should be ok if you can fit all that into termal shield later.
Also soldering works - the metal of connetor wires is no different from others on our planet - I did it myself. Problem with soldering is that you have to avoid cold solder - not a rocket science.
You do not have to buy volvo `listed` parts as long as their parameters are the same and you do an accurate job.
I think having opions to think yourself and save even 10 cents on a project make DIY jobs appealing for some of us...

So, how many corroded, badly spliced O2 sensors have you replaced? I'd say, one, may be two?

You are quite rite, I am not a mechanic but have experience with instrumentatin working 24/7 in harsh environments for years.
Also i am interested what damage have you seen on crimped wires where unshielded butt connectors and waterproof heat shrink where used?
Using crimps without waterproofing can cause problems.
Actually I posted may first question about LH2.2 and O2 sensor because I do not believe web stores will catch the difference between LH2.2 and LH2.4. Therefore my question is, does the LH2.2 use a different O2 sensor than LH2.4?
Thanks.

I've read that some o2 sensors are made to take ambient air in through the wires, so over waterproofing can be a bad thing too.

Those O2 sensors smoke so hard, no wonder they need to take some ambient air... through wires
