Default Wiper Linkage help

Hi, same guy here with the 1982 Volvo 240 DL. I am just fixing the little things with this car that I bought a couple of weeks ago. All are pretty simple except for one thing. The guy I bought it from didn't tell me the wipers did not work! (Who checks the wiper blades when they are buying a car? Ha ha!) SO I tore the dash apart according to this site and found that they were disconnected:

http://www.jimjmorris.com/cvcoa/wipers.htm

But it seems my wiper linkage is flipped compared to this site. The cables seem to be too short so I can tighten them up. I don't get it.

Attached is a pic (kinda blurry). In this pic you see the cam to the passenger side wiper. The bottom metal piece is to the wiper motor, which works. The top metal piece is to the other wiper, which is connected. I need to connect both metal pieces to the cam with some cables.

Any tips or pointers are appreciated!

That picture is unclear. Anyway, those arms move, you know--may be that way they can be "extended". But, then, why were they disconnected by the PO? Probably the motor is bad and he tried some repair unsuccessfully...

Did you ever solve this issue? My wipers are disconnected the same way... Happened to me while i was driving in a severe storm.

Let me know if you fixed it yourself or took it to a shop. Cheers

I gave up on wiper blades and sold the car to some college kid who said he didn't care if they worked or not. They were certainly a pain to reconnect but I never got around to reconnecting them. Sorry, I am not much help.
