Default Wipers won't stop

I was hoping someone out there could help me with my issue. I recently purchased a 1986 Volvo 240 and the odometer stopped working. I replaced the gear but after putting the instrument cluster back in, when I the car is running the wipers won't stop. I also noticed that the high beams have stopped working and since they are tied to the same lever I wonder if it somehow shorted itself out? Any suggestions for helping to diagnose this issue? Luckily it's raining for the next few days so having wipers running constantly isn't such a bad thing.

well, as they like to say, its always the last thing you did. you probably loosened some wiring. Sadly, 86 (and 87) are notorious for brittle insulation (so called 'biodegradable wiring'), this usually bites you in the engine compartment.

Pull the cluster again and double check the multi connectors on the back. Sounds as if you may need to get them on all the way.

Thanks for the reply. Took everything apart and jiggled all the handles and everything seems to be working again.

hope it stays that way. intermittent symptoms like that are really annoying and have a nasty habit of being persistent.
