Ok I just bought an 89 turbo 740 Wagon for a few hundred planning on fixing it up and getting rid of it. There is a few problems I have found so far. It doesn't idle good at all and when you step on it, it has no power and won't go over 3,000 RPM's the harder you step on it the slower it goes. Vacume seams to be fine according to the boost gauge. I was thinking it could be the injectors. Anything would be helpful.

 

Turbo might be locked up.
Cat. converter might be clogged.
ETC

 

The turbo spins freely. I though about the cat today I'm going to stick a lead pipe though it tomorrow. And what is the ETC?

Tonight I took off all the intake pipes turbo and intercooler and cleaned them out with carb/fuel injector cleaner. I sprayed the intake manifold with it as well. I took off the fuel rail sprayed the injectors and there ports to clean them out. Sprayed the MAS or MAF with electric cleaner. Cleaned out the intercooler.

It runs much better but still when I floor it (hitting boost) power goes down. Half thottle it runs fine but as soon as I hit boost it bogs down. It is also back fireing. I played with the distributer cap tying to make it idle better and it didn't work so i know i need to get timing light and fix that which may be causing the back fire.

What should the timing be at?

Oh and what is that *** under the throttle body?

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
