C70 (1999) Wont rev over 2000 rpm
Hi all
I have a 1999 C70 T5 Auto.
ETS light came on a couple of week ago, took it to the dealer.
They diagnosed a clean of the throttle body and new software, that made no difference.
They then said it would need a new ETM, had that fitted yesterday, still no joy!!
They are now saying that the intercooler needs flushing, that it is full of oil and it needs a new set of plugs.
I am concerned that they are randomly changing parts, wilth the bill rapidly climbing
Can anyone help me please?
The car drives ok, it has no kickdown, no real power at all, if you push it too hard the ETM light comes on and it goes into limp mode.
Dealer says there are no fault codes stored now and they are unsure what it is.
Any help would be much appreciated

Not sure about hoses, car is still at dealers.
The dealer isdue to call me later today, should I ask them to check the intercooler hoses for splits, holes etc?
If there is a damaged hose, what would this do to the engine? i.e. would it cause the symptoms my car is having?

Just had a call from the dealer.
They recommend changing the MAF sensor, and fitting a new intercooler in the hope that it 'may' solve the problem.
Cost of £450!!
Apparently there are now 2 fault codes. ECM 1600 (boost pressure sensor)? & ECM 1300 (MAF sensor?)
Intercooler hoses have been checked and are ok.
Can anyone please help me, at this rate my bill could be £1500+

1. if the parts they installed does not fix it make them reinstall your old parts.
2. They can try a new mass flow sensor with no cost to you.
3. I hope they make sure the vacuum lines to the turbo area good.

Would a faulty MAF sensor crate the problems I have had?
I will ask the dealer to try one for me. If not, could I also test it by unplugging the MAF sensor and if it runs better, then that is the problem.

A bad mass flow will cause alot of different funky problems. Usually unplugging it will only work when it will not run or runs really poorly when it is bad.
The intercooler has a factory hose that the oil will drain out of under driving conditions.
The boost pressure being bad can cause low or erratic boost or full boost all the time.

Ok, just picked up car from dealers.
The report that came with the car states:
Suspected blocked intercooler (although they said they could not be definite about this)
Turbo pressure sensor fault
And MAF sensor fault
Where is the turbo pressure sensor? Can it be cleaned?
Do the MAF sensor fail or can it be cleaned also.
How do I tell whether the intercooler is blocked?
I am fast getting to the point of scrapping this car, almost £1000 and still no further forward

Boost pressure sensor is located on the hard plastic pipe that goes from the intercooler to the throttle body.
The Mass Flow sensors commonly go bad.
You can disconnect the intercooler and blow compressed air through it to make sure it is clear.
