It ran fine yesterday. Tried to start it with the cat off after I finally got it out, no dice. Just crankcrankcrankcrankBAM. So I thought there wasn't enough backpressure and threw the cat back on temporarily, but nothing changed. What gives?

Check for fuel , spark and compression. Also did you reconnect the O2 sensor.

I got it working. Just took the distributor cap off and cleaned the contacts. I guess water got in it after I washed the engine bay yesterday, even though it ran fine after washing..

Check your timing belt. Open the oil cap and see if it moves. If it doesnt move the problem is the timing belt.
