1996 volvo misfiring 960

Default 1996 volvo misfiring 960

I have a 96 volvo 960 and the #2 cylinder is not firing its not the coil Ive switch it with one that works and theres power to the coil so what could it be thanks

Have you pulled the plug? Also, make sure the wires in the coil plug are not backing out on you.

If it still misses after checking on RSPI's suggestions, then you will have to swap the power stages, one is on the front of the intake and the other on the rear, swap them and see if the miss moves to an odd number cylinder.

When inspecting the wires, it seems that when the insulation gets hard, the wire can break inside and the insulation will look fine. But because the insulation is hard, it cannot take any flexing of the wire without break internally.

Sequence of checks, inspect carefully wires powering coil, inspect spark plug, move coil to another cylinder( you did that already), swap power stages, do a compression test.

DanR '94 964 360,000 miles (126,000 on the new engine)
