Default 1997 960 'bang' from rear / trunk
when you first give car gas, whether in reverse or drive, there is a thump or bang from the rear of the car. once you move all is fine. does not matter if car is cold warm etc..... drving me crazy!!! any ideas?

Like a thump or a bang? My guess would be a U-joint, the exhaust is loose or a caliper is sticking.

thx chrispy - was wondering about brake - 0nce car has "broken" free runs fine,,,, will check it out and let you know..

Jack up the rear before you drive it for the day, put it in "N" safely with the parking brake off and spin each rear wheel. How do they spin?
