Hello, We were given a 1997 960. One owner. serviced every 5k miles. We know the people so this is real. Has 190k miles and is in very good cond. I have a few questions. Do I really need to use Volvo coolant? 10W30 oil ok in the south? (GA). Right side of passenger seat stuck. How do I free it up? I guess that's enough for now. Any help would be great.

1.No you can use other decent coolant.
2.10/30 will be fine
3.One of the cables are bad does only one side move a little?

 

Yes, one side tries to move but the other side is stuck. Is this a fairly easy fix?

 

I usually get under there with a Mini torch and heat the metal sleeve up and slide the plastic into the metal more and it should work.

I really don't know which cable does which under there, so I'll put that one on the back burner for now.

It will be one of the ones from I believe it is the center motor. It will be the the only motor with 2 cable coming out. One cable on each side.

 

Thanks, I'll look into that. More questions. Are there any grease fittings in the suspension or is everything sealed? How do I check the trans fluid? In the trunk, on both sides of the floor, there are storage or access areas below the floor. On the driver's side, there is a little box with wires running to it and what looks like a red lens. Do you know what this is?

 

No grease fittings everything is sealed.
The trans dipstick is hard to find but look at the back of the intake manifold down a little there is a yellow dipstick that is it.

Not sure about the wiring anyway you can take a pic and post it?

 

That box you are wondering about is the Lamp Control Module for the rear lights......
