Default '85 760 gle newbie

Greetings All !

Gotta love the help forums. Just picked up this car from an auction ($500). Body/interior are nice but idles alittle rough.More accurately, when it's warm it surges when at idle almost stalling out. I'm guessing mass airflow sensor or something like that. I've worked on mid 80's 6cyl Jags but never the Volvos before.

Could someone be so kind as to refer what manuals I should look at ( good vs. bad ). I wouls also appreciate some links for good reading for this model.

Second problem.........Vehicle sort of "shudders" when under acceleration from stop. Could it be Tranny or Differential? What would you look at as first suspect. I havent checked fluid levels yet as car is parked outside and daylight is not my friend right now!

Thanks, Steve

Is the 760 4cylinder or 6 ?

For the shutter check the driveshaft carrier bearing.

I don't know all that much about the 6 cylinder. Check for vaccum leaks.
