Default 89 740 wagon wet drivers floorboard

Hello again this morning i found a inch of water in the drivers side floorboard, after some serious searching on various volvo forums i believe it is from a leak from the drivers side foot vent door. " the one that they put the plastic seal off plate for the US market" I felt wetness around the bottom of the plate around the foam. I pulled out the carpet "luckily no rust yet", sopped up the water and am ready to tackle the source of the leak but how do you actually do it? pop the plate out and silicone it? silicone it in place? take off the fender and silicone it from the outside? has anyone else done this and maybe took some pictures while doing it? Thanks Mike

Are you sure it's water and not coolant? Your heater core is right behind the radio and if it lets go, it could flood your footwell.

yup, I removed the carpet and floor liner and it is pure water, I got the vent panel off and there is a track of wet sediment from the botton of the vent plug running to the floor board. I think i will take a picture of it tomorrow and post it here if anyone is interested. I'm lucky the inner coating of the body was clean inside so i could see the line.

Just silicone that flap all around. I have done it before, should take care of the leak.

well that is what i did, and after several rainy days the carpet is still dry. I used half of a large tube of silicon sealant, it isn't pretty but works, Thanks Lev
