B280 starts, dies and loses spark
This is a tough one. Volvo 760 with PRV 1989.
The fuel pump relay died a week ago and I bought a new one. Everything seemed to be alright until one day the engine just died like somebody had turned the ignition off. I checked and there’s no spark. The next day after it started again like nothing until 10sec later lost the spark again. I’m baffled. Where is the problem?? I measured the coil and it seems fine. I tried a new ignition amplifier module but no. Swapped the suppression relays. Cleaned and checked distributor. Checked the fuel pump relay and engaged the pump manually. I’ve jiggles all the connectors. I’ve taken the rpm sensor out (but haven’t tried a new one as I haven’t found one).
After all this it still starts after 24 hours of standing still, runs for 10-30 seconds and dies.

This is already an old thread but, if someone has a similar problem, I did solve the this. The problem was (most likely) moisture in crank/rpm sensor as heating it slightly did the trick. Engine started and run like nothing had happened
. No problems (relating to this) since then.
