A/C dying on me.. :(
Hey guys. i was wondering if anyone knows why the A/C will dies when my RPM is high, the A/C works fine when in low RPM but when i accelerate and the RPM is high about 2500 to 3000 the A/C dies, and when the RPM goes back under 2500 RPM comes back on, i did have an accident long ago, but when i got it back, it was working fine, but now is not...
any sugestions or advice would be great, i want to see if i can get any ideas before i go to the mechanics, cause since i am a woman, they seem to always want to trick me into fixing more than what i need.
Thanks

if the compressor is clicking on and off its most likely due to low freon. Was it a front end accident? I once hit a deer and it damaged my condensor creating a slow leak. So this could be a similar situation.
How long has the AC been doing this?? what model is it? It could just be a case of a simple recharge (about $50+ or so at any shop) or replacing any components that are leaking, depending oh what parts it could be a few hundred up to a thousand.

2 more questions
1. Does it always seem cold when you first start then after driving for a while it blows hot then when you turn it off for a while then back on it is cold?
2. Also when you say it stops blowing cold on acceleration do you lose the air flow out of the vents only?
With the car running A/C temp full cold and blower motor on high speed when you stand outside do you keep hearing a clicking noise?

yes i have, still the same, also i just discover another problem, not related to the A/C, but found it while trying to hear for the clicking sound, when i turn the wheel, i hear a grinding noise, it is not the same as the grinding noise like bearing noise, but i think is more like the power steering, it kinda feels a bit hard when turning, i don't know what is happening to my car, i think she is dying on me... it's sad cause she is such a pretty car. i would hate to let her go........

OK this is the best I can get as far as Pics right now.
Start by removing the lower dash panel on the passenger side. There is a small cover in the middle of the panel. Remove the cover then the torxes 25 screw. Then unsnap the cover from the side of the dash on each side and remove it. Then you will see a black metal bar that goes across. Remove that I think it is 4 or 5 screws. Once that is out of the way look in behind where you removed the bar from it will look kind of like the front portion of the pic below. Look for #13 it has a bunch of different color hoses going to it.
The pic below tells what colors controls which diaphrams.
Then unplug the hose connection. Start with the recirc door hose and install small BB or something like that that will block vacuum to the hose when you plug the hose assembly back on. What I ususally use is part rivet when you look at a rivet on the back side there is a ball looking thing. I cut it off and use the ball part to block the vacuum.
Then if that doesn't work on that one slowly block off one at a time till it stops fading off under acceleration. Then if you want you can leave it blocked off like that and you will be fine.
Hopefully they all arent bad or it will be stuck on defrost only. But they usually won't all go bad at once.
Try that and let me know.
