Engine skid plate and more...

My 960 came without the plastic motor shield/skid plate. How important is this and should I get it installed? Also, I have a small coolant leak from the hose just above the oil filter. Is this the oil cooler line?

Half the Volvos are missing the shield--some of the "master" mechanics out there forget to put them back on... Nice to have but...

Coolant leak really can't be from an oil cooler line, right?
