Default Fuel leak

Happy New year to all!

1997 960 wagon

Today, I returned home from a short drive, asi I was about to exit the car a strong smell of gasoline was inside the car. I opend the hood and saw fuel leaking from the fuel rail. I had to use the car again but the incident did not repeat itself.

Is this a common problem? Is there a grave danger of driving down the road in a 960 wagon named "Fireball", not for its performance but for it's appearance?

Can the fuel rail spring a leak or could it be an injector leaking?

Any help is appreciated.

Default RE: Fuel leak

You should be concerned every time there is a fuel leak, especially under the hood-that's how cars catch on fire!!!
No, it is NOT a common problem, and I doubt that Volvo really condones ignoring it. Fuel injector MAY leak, so can the fuel rail... Whatever it is, address it before your car really lives up to its name!

Yes fuel rail leaks are very common on the 960's.
Volvo came up with a different style fuel rail to fix it.

It is leaking from the end of it closest to the front of the car.
