First of all the car hesitates a little bit during start, and 80% of the time i hear the fuel pump loud!!!! And during rides, 50 mph + my car suddenly looses power for a second and gain it back, I'm thinking its a pump problem, but i don't want to fix something thats not gone bad, so what may the problem be?? Thanks

 

First, others that may respond may want to know the year and model of your car. I'll throw this out there, if the noise you hear is under the car near the driver seat, that may be a indication that fuel pump in the tank in not working and the "main" pump is trying to siphon from the tank and provide high pressure to the injectors too.

 

Could also be an electrical issue, I'd not be changing the pump just yet. How's your "tune up"? Plugs, wires, rotor, etc?

 

There are only two things that I can think of that would cause an intermittent power loss. Loss of fuel or loss of spark.

You need to narrow down which one it is.

 

i have a Volvo s 40 and i had the same problem so i went to repco and got full cleaner and it did the job the car is running 100% better now
