Default Intercooler testing

Hi everybody! I have a 1990 Volvo 760 wagon with the 4-cyl turbo engine. It uses a lot of oil, and I know that it needs a new head gasket. However, a shadetree mechanic told me that I should test the intercooler also because that could be where the oil is going. I cannot find a test procedure anywhere on-line, or in a chilton's book I got from the library. Anybody know how to check it? I mean, is there a pressure test procedure for it? Thanks. --Jim

Easiest is to take the IC out and see how much oil is in it...
