I am totally confused. If I look at the evaporator cannister(silver cylinder shaped near firewall), on the top tube is a port with a black cap. Is this the low port for the a/c? I looked down by the compressor motor and do not see any port. I followed the smaller lines down from the firewall and they disappear under the frame.

I have heard the 2.9l has only a low port and no high port. So, is the low port the only port I should be finding.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I need to recharge the system and don't want to blow up a can of 134a in my handsome mug.

Yes there is only a Low Side port on those cars.
Volvo didn't add a High Pressure port on their cars till 2001.

 

Thanks Tech. You confirmed my suspicions. I posted the entire process on a thread to maybe help someone else carefully and confidentally go thru this recharge issue.
