PNP switch/flashing arrow reminder
If you encounter the flashing arrow and you know it is because of the PNP switch (P0705 code or 313) here are some things I learned from vadis that might help you deal with it until you fix it. Hopefully you can clear the intermittent fault and keep going. If not, keeping some things in mind will help you minimize damage on the tranny while driving it this way.
1. The failure happens when the ECU gets an invalid reading for FIVE SECONDS.
To make the fault go away one thing to try is to hold your foot on the brake, and turn the car on and off ten times with the shifter in various positions until the arrow stops flashing. Then go back to N and start the car.
What you are doing is trying to find a stable, VALID signal from the PNP switch. If it is stable, cycling the ignition enough will make it think it's okay.
Once you find it, hopefully you can start the car, quickly put it in D and hopefully a good signal will "stick".
2. When this fault is triggered, the transmission works in the LIMP HOME emergency program.
In this program the transmission does not shift at all and there is no pressure control.
You can manually select 3rd gear by moving to 3/L and 4th gear by moving to D.
Shifts between P-R-N-D will be very harsh. Do not do this more than necessary.
Your trans oil will heat up less if you start off in L and shift into D manually.

I have experimented with mine some more. It seems mine will usually throw the bad combination when shifted into L.
If I sweep the shifter back and forth from P to L a few times it seems to hold and not throw an error in any position.
Anyway, when turning the ignition off and then on to make the arrow go away, it seems that the key must remain off for a minute or two.
At least I'm getting more confident that I can eventually get rid of the fault and be on my way if it happens to me on the road.
