Service light on

The service light on my '95 960 comes on when engine is started. I know that I can turn it off by pressing the dashboard switch however it comes on every time I start the car. Is this a service reminder light and if so, how do I reset it?

Pressing the plug will reset it for 5k miles, if done successfully.
