Stuck driver seat

Is the seat only moving on one side? Most of the time with the slides it is one side that stop moving and it twists until the motor stops. It is one motor that controls both sides, what happens is the cable end wears and gets rounded, plus the fact that there is to much space for the cable to move from one end to the other, so the worn end moves out of the gear box on the seat track.
You can either pull the cables out, shorten the out sheath and reinstall or do what I did and just disconnect on the motor end, turn the cable until it reaches home on the gear box on the track, the place a piece of cut wire, I used a coat hanger, cut it about 3/8" long and place that in the motor shaft and then reassemble.

At first neither side would move, but after messing with it tonight and essentially forcing it, the left side moves freely, but the right side is still bound. Now the seat is all the way back, and twists moving forward. My wife is not happy. I tried to raise the seat as high as it goes to make room, but I can't get to the back where the cable attaches. When you talk about the repairing the cable, is that at the motor mounted directly in the middle of the seat or the mechanism near the rail?

I had to fix this on my car. The seats are VERY heavy and there is a trick to removing them. Take out the bolts, then slide it forward to lift it out. If I recall correctly, the fore/aft adjustment motor is the one in the middle (there are 3). Take it out, shorten the plastic sheath by about 1/2" and reassemble.
I used a 12V power supply to test it before reinstalling and to make sure the seat rails were still aligned.

Both of my 960's did the same thing. What I did was pulled and jerked on the cables until I got the thing to move. Once I figured out which cable was messed up, I put pressure on it (inward) until I got it where it needed to be to work. Then I used some speed tape & plastic zip tie to keep it in that place.
If the problem re-occurs, I'm going to try the 850 recliner fix. Get a small torch (cigarette lighter type) and heat the cable end and press it in, then let it set. That should fix it for good.
