Default Volvo 960 positive (+) battery cable- Unobtainium?

I just replaced the timing belt and all related items on my 1997 964. No problems there, but in the course of removing the battery, the cast brass positive cable clamp was cracked.

This thing is hard to find!

This is the portion which branches off from the positive terminal to the fuse box on the passenger side of the engine compartment directly behind the battery.

Any idea where I can get one of these or is it a dealer only item?

I want to replace it since I do see corrosion there.

All suggestions welcomed.

Thanks!

I also have/had this problem. No luck in resourcing a new one and fortunately found one on ebay that was in better shape than mine. Without this good fortune I would have scoured the pick-n-pull (junkyard) vendors in my local area.

I'd start by shopping Volvo friendly sites like FCPEuro, EEuroparts, IPDUSA as well as some of the dealer web sites like Tasca parts and volvowholesalepartsdirect.com

A good idea is to start with the dealer sites to find a diagram and the OEM part number, then search on the part number.

Thanks to MT, PTaylor and everyone else who responded. It appears that the 960 electrical system may have changed in the last year, since it looks different from the cables in the VIDA print, which are very conventional.

I might make an adaptor for 960 cars to sell, if my efforts to make a replacement pan out the way I want.

I'm making things heavier duty than Volvo, even though much of their equipment is quite solid.

Thanks for your posting. I'd be interested in your adaptor and, if you're headed in this direction, an upgraded wiring harness. I'm afraid to touch mine, considering its age and the chance for a dreaded, intermittent, short.
