Default water pump replacement complication

Started replacing the water pump in my 940 today. All was going well until I tried to separate the pump from the red coolant line that runs under the exhaust manifold. It seems to be frozen to the pump.
I removed the nut and bolt that holds the pump to the line, but the red tube will not let go of the water pump.

I sprayed it with a lot of penetrating oil, but it's still stuck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Greg

Some genius put sealant on it... How about the O ring that seal the pump up to the head? Usually they glue that also... If all the bolts are off, just use some muscle--the pump should separate just fine... Has to.

The pump is free from the head, but still stuck to the red pipe that leads under the exhaust manifold. There seems to be a thin metal tank welded to the underside of the pipe and the nut and bolt go thru the water pump flange (lower left) and thru a hole in this tang. I can't find a good leverage point to apply a lot of force to this stuck fitting.

It is certainly possible that someone put gasket sealant on it. The car has 234K miles so the leaky water pump is likely not original.

I've been using PB blaster to try to separate the parts. Is there anything stronger?

Thanks
Greg

I doubt somebody welded that thing... I don't know what to tell you besides to try to use force somehow--PB Blaster, not so much help in this case...

CRC makes a product "Freeze Off" super penetrant. I have had some luck with it. Supposedly freeze and cracks rust. Has worked for me a few times, but not always.

I wish I'd read about this before I started... didn't realize there was that 10mm bolt holding the pipe to the back side of the water pump. I was certain everything was just corroded in place. I hope I never need to replace the heater hoses, looks like you about have to pull the head to get to them!
