Replace the intercooler??? what kind of nonsense is that? Why did they say that? What is the actual problem that they are putting the death sentence on the intercooler? Unless they crashed into something its probably not the issue. Share more please, dont want to see you getting ripped off here. They better had a good reason.

The seller said that it's overheating. So I assumed it's the head gasket. He said it runs good etc etc. and that there is a steam on the reservoir. He said theat his mechanic said that it is the intercooler.

then his mechanic is an idiot. An intercooler has NOTHING to do with overheating. if it's overheating, it could be the radiator, or head gasket, bad thermostat, etc...

I think I'd walk away from this car, because I have a feeling that the seller is lying to you about this. If he's lyingo to you about this, he could very well be lying about who knows what else. Find an honest seller.

If your head gasket is shot, you would see:

- Loss of compression (have it compression tested)
- Loss of coolant (keep an eye on the reservoir or have it pressure-tested)
- Oily coolant in the reservoir
- Sweet odor from the tail pipe
- Emulsified engine oil (very often, this is normal on 850s and is due to condensation)
