Default 1995 850 blower question

I replaced the resistor, fan motor works, I sent the ECC unit to BBA Reman and they said it is ok, but cant check the mother board. I talked with a volvo mechanic and they want $130 to run codes. He mentioned there may be some bad sensors. NOT SURE WHERE OR WHAT TO DO NOW. KEEP SPENDING $$$ AND NO ANSWERS. ANY HELP WOULD BE THANKFUL.

The fan blows on high and you have to take the fuse out to stop. You cannot control the temperature either. I put a new resistor in. I sent away the ecc to BBA Reman and they said everything checks out and they cannot check the mother board. Kraus said that i can check the codes at the terminal under the hood to see what codes come up.
So basically when everything is hooked up, it blows on high heat

The fan would run and then it would not run. When it ran it was on high heat. Could the blower motor be shot also? I have an extra one I can try.

Default Same problem with 95 850 Turbo

Hi:
What happened? I have what sounds to be the same problem. Fan runs at one speed (only when motor on) but no air flow?

Did you ever pull the codes to see what you had?

Did you get it fixed?

You dont need to pay anything to pull the codes....

Its a odb 1 port you can do it yourself... I have never done this so maybe someone with odb1 expierence can chime in on this one

Yours might be different than mine but I have both an OBDII port just above the shifter with a rubber cover over it and I also have a self diagnostic panel under the hood between the radiator and the washer fluid reservoir. If you have OBDI you are kind of screwed unless you have a friendly dealer willing to read it for you. If you have the diagnostic panel under your hood you can pull your codes for free.

Check out this link for the built in diagnostic panel

Even if it's OBDII you don't have to pay anything because you can go to some auto parts stores and use their code reader in the lot free! It's easier, faster and you don't run the risk of messing up the flashes plus most of the scanners will give you a bit of info on what the code stands for. Plus, it's easy to erase. These "free" scanners will only work on the MIL or check engine light. O'Reilly's recently started to loan one that does ABS but it's on limited makes and Volvo isn't covered. Still if you're unlucky enough to have an ABS light on and you have a Chev, Ford, Chry or ?? it's a whole lot better than paying to find out what's up.

Default ECC unit?

I pulled an identical ECC out of a junked car and everything seemed to work fine. I discovered later that there was no warm air flow so I put the old unit back to make sure that I had heating capability before; I did. So, now I have an ECC unit (the old one) that has heat but the blower control does not work and a second one which controls the blowers like it should but which does not circulate warm air when I request it to. Fortunately, I am not desparate for heat yet but you never know when you will hit a situation when you need to use the defogger.
Any advise will be appreciated.

My guess, and it's only a guess would be that you have found the problem and it is the head (control unit). You might need to find a third one, hopefully good to solve the problem.
